According to Marine Corps News, certain U.S. Marine reservists who were involuntary mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom can now extend their deployment to complete the rotation, the Corps announced recently.

Only mobilized Individual Ready Reserve Marines involuntarily activated on 12-month orders are eligible for this opportunity, according to Marine Administrative message 689/08. Selected Marine Corps Reserve members, individual mobilization augmentees or IRR Marines on voluntary mobilization orders are not.

The duration of the extension request should be no longer than a Marine needs to complete his current deployment plus time for redeployment, demobilization and accrued leave, according to the MarAdmin.
